Tana's Tech Tip
Using the ASI QuickBooks Import in VCK
End users who utilize ASI's QuickBooks import some-times experience problems trying to import an invoice to
a customer who is already setup in QuickBooks as a vendor. It can't be done, as QuickBooks does not allow a record to exist as both a customer and as a vendor.
Thus, if you setup a client
who is already an established vendor in QuickBooks, be sure to change the name slightly to allow the import utility to properly add the customer and the invoice to QuickBooks. This can be accomplished through Veri-Shred or VCK. Register for ASI WebShare Webinars
WebShare provides ASI Users with online webinar training sessions including step-by-step instruction and review of neat features offered by ASI's many records and information management software solutions. Going for Gold
Scott Bidwell, President/COO
Have you been watching the Olympics? I've found myself flicking through the channels, pausing at NBC to see the latest Olympic update and marveling at the level of excellence represented by these athletes. As I watch, I think about what it must take for them to achieve Olympic status - the years of practice, constantly pushing their limits, learning and improving as they go - always seeking to better their last performance.
Few of us put ourselves in such positions of sacrifice as we seek ultimate glory. Still, there's something to be said for pushing ourselves everyday to be better, to expand our capabilities, to build on our expertise and knowledge - whether it be in business, with our families, in our communities, or personally. While I can't necessarily offer advice for the last three, I can help you improve in business by pointing you toward some resources that will expand your knowledge of the ASI solutions in which your company has invested its resources. On the ASI website, you'll find multiple ways for you and your team to access valuable ASI tools that will improve your ability to better utilize these ASI solutions. These include:
Learning Center: Offers training materials, access to the ASI Support Forum, articles and presentations from industry leaders, plus additional materials sorted by industry specialty. Check out the latest addition to the Learning Center, the Veri-Shred Reports Dictionary.
Knowledge Base: Conduct a keyword search for information. This is also where you'll find FAQ's and many more resources.
WebShare Webinars: Offer ASI Users with online webinar training sessions detailing some of the neat features and providing step-by-step instruction regarding any of ASI's software solutions. Convenient and easy-to-use, WebShare webinars are a great value as well, priced at only $49 per connection.
Take advantage of these resources for yourself and your business. I'm certainly not claiming, by doing so, you'll achieve a gold medal - at least not an Olympic gold medal. You may find, however, that your customers award you with loyalty and praise for demonstrating a commitment to excellence.

ASI Attends Shred-School
As we've reported in previous newsletters, ASI works closely with Total Training Services and company president Ray Barry as he presents bi-monthly Shred School seminars. Shred School is an in-depth seminar geared completely toward the shredding industry. It provides recent start-ups, as well as industry veterans in the information destruction business, sales and marketing tools specific to the shredding industry. ASI Sales Associate Jim MacMillan joined nearly 20 attendees for this month's Shred School, held February 3-5, which was the second largest thus far. The next seminar is a Sales Boot Camp and is scheduled to be held April 21-23.
Attendees of Shred School, held February 3-5, 2010.

Despite the wide availability of scanners and content management systems, most important documents are still archived -- as paper. That's one of the conclusions of a recent AIIM research report, entitled "Document Scanning and Capture: Local, Central, Outsource - What's Working Best?"
"We are at last in a situation where electronic archiving of records is efficient, effective and can save huge amounts of space, and yet most office staff seem to be hanging onto paper in the mistaken view that there is some legal reason to do so" said John Mancini, AIIM's President.
Part of the report was based on a survey taken by 882 individual members of the AIIM community between October 8th and October 23rd, 2009. That survey found that 62% of important paper documents are still archived as paper. Even when documents are sent off for archive scanning, 25% are photocopied beforehand "just in case." Less than a third of the paper originals are systematically destroyed after scanning.
